Grief and loss counselling
Find support as you navigate life after loss.
Grief is most often associated with the death of a loved one, but it can also arise after many other types of loss — the end of a relationship, losing a job, saying goodbye to a pet, moving from a cherished home, or even a lost dream or missed opportunity.
Grief is the emotional response to a significant change in our lives, and it can feel overwhelming, confusing, or even isolating. You may experience sadness, anger, guilt, or numbness — sometimes all in the same day. These feelings can be intense and unpredictable, and they often come in waves.
As the Victorian Government’s Better Health Channel reminds us, “grief is a process, not an event.” There is no right or wrong way to grieve — and no timeline you need to follow. Everyone’s experience of loss is different, and yours is valid.
At Do Life Better Counselling, we offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about your grief — whatever form it takes. Whether your loss is recent or long past, counselling can help you process difficult emotions, find meaning, and move toward a place of peace.
Grief counselling can support you to:
Understand the complex emotional layers of grief
Process pain in a safe and supportive environment
Honour your loss without becoming overwhelmed by it
Explore what healing might look like for you
Reconnect with your values and sense of purpose over time
You don’t have to walk through this alone. With gentle, grounded support, it’s possible to live with grief while still holding space for joy, connection, and meaning.
